No Matter What is Missing – Welcome all ‘Whos’ far and near, Welcome Christmas, bring your cheer
4 min read
The year 2020 has been the most difficult year many have ever experienced. Many looked forward to Christmas as a time to temporarily ignore the pain of the year and laugh with family and friends.
Covid fears, restrictions on businesses and on life in general, and an uncertain federal government have dashed the hope of celebration for some. But no government or pestilence can rob us of our hope in Jesus Christ. Joy and Peace can still be found on Christmas Day.
While the last few decades of celebration ‘busyness’ and commercialization have often drowned out this truth, Christmas is NOT just a calendar holiday that can be canceled at the whim of government officials and other grinches and scrooges. It is a Christian festival, built on a retelling of the Holy Family’s trek to Bethlehem and celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ. This history is permanently embedded in our traditional music, decorations, gift-giving, hope, homecoming, and nativity scenes.
But even more – it is a Spiritual event; an opportunity to consider who Jesus Christ is, the Love He shares, the Truth he teaches, the Redemption, Forgiveness, Grace, Mercy, Joy and Peace He offers.
Jesus Christ, who comes as an innocent and helpless child, was born the true Lord God and Wise King, whose very existence has always threatened flesh-bound wannabees.
No matter the historical edicts through centuries of self-absorbed rulers or stuffy bureaucrats drunk in their own self-importance, who tried to cancel Christmas and Christianity as a whole…Christmas, Christianity, and most importantly, Jesus Christ live on.
So get up Christmas morning and sing – even if you are the only one in the room. Lift your heart, mind and soul to the Lord – Give PRAISE, WORSHIP and Thanksgiving for your life and and all that HE – our Lord God and King – has provided; most especially the lives of everyone you love, because each and everyone of them is a special and precious gift you have been given – no matter how long they have been or will be in your life.
THANK YOU, JESUS CHRIST. We are SO grateful you came to this world to save us
